Part of the journey is the end. The two titans of IPL meet at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium to settle the rein of supremacy. So, join us for the latest team news, starting XIs, key players, and of course our prediction.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians are no stranger to the finals of IPL, having won the tournament three times. The team boasts of a splendid batting line up complemented by a strong bowling unit. Moreover, Mi has had the upper hand on CSK a number of times. They even defeated the men in yellow in the playoffs to book a berth in the finals of 2019. Led by captain Rohit Sharma, MI boast quite a depth in batting. Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya all have the ability to easily clear the ropes. Especially, Pandya whose batting heroics have been the talk of the season. Young Ishan Kishan and big man Kieron Pollard also need to be at the top of their game in the final match.

Mumbai Indians possess an equally good bowling unit. The duo of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah are lethal in the death overs. Hardik Pandya comes in quite handy with the ball too. Rahul Chahar despite being the lone good spinner has impressed over the matches.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav will be key in batting. Bumrah and Chahar will look to rattle CSK batting.

Predicted XI

Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Keiron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai are undoubtedly the most successful IPL team in history, having appeared in seven finals. But they have just won the finals three times out of those seven. In spite of that CSK are arguably the most successful IPL team on par with MI. This season though, CSK have struggled with their batting quite a lot. They endured batting collapses in many matches with Dhoni rescuing them on a regular basis. Against DC, we got to see the CSK of the old, as they beat out the young side quite convincingly. Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson will look to continue on their good form from the last match. In the middle order, Raina, Rayudu and MS Dhoni will do their best to pile on after the openers.

Much like Mumbai, CSK have a potent bowling force to deal with. But the lack of fast bowlers might hurt CSK here. Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh have been instrumental behind CSK’s success this season. Bravo and Shardul Thakur will have to do their best to match up to the Mumbai attack.

Faf du Plessis and Dhoni will be key to the batting. Thakur and Tahir will be for bowling.

Predicted XI

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahr, Shardul Thakur, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir.

Prediction: Who’ll Win?

It’s the final battle. Both teams will have to play their best games. Expect a thriller final with Mumbai crowning themselves the champion a fourth time.

So, join us for the latest team news, starting XIs, key players, and of course our prediction.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai are in a joyous mood. Not only they qualified for the playoffs but they managed the top spot, hence securing two shots at the finals. MI however will look to book a place in the finals tomorrow only. MI has played well, especially their batting. Rohit Sharma and Quintin de Kock provide good opening partnerships. The form of Sharma was in question early on the IPL, but the hitman has bounced back for MI. The middle order with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya provided good backup for runs. Pandya in particular has been the most impressive of the lot, with his fiery batting prowess.

In the bowling ranks Mumbai have Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah. This duo is the best death over bowlers of IPL. Malinga and Bumrah have picked up wickets as well as have been stringent with the run flow. Pandya has proved quite nifty with the ball too. The all rounder’s bowling during the slog overs will be pivotal for Mumbai. The likes of Mitchell McClenaghan and Rahul Chahar will also need to be at their best in this match.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya are the main threats for the batting line up. Malinga and Bumrah will pivotal in the bowling. Pandya will be the key player for Mumbai in this match.

Predicted XI

Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Mitchell McClenaghan, Rahul Chahar, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai have reached the IPL playoffs a record nine times. Unquestionably the most consistent IPL team, CSK are looking to win the title a fourth time. Chennai are on a poor run though, having won just two of the past six matches. Dhoni has rescued the team more than once. The batting line up, though boasting big names still lack that spark. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis will again open the innings for CSK. Raina, Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav will need to be at their best. Captain cool MS Dhoni, has been the best of the CSK lot in terms of scoring.

The bowling of CSK has been a tad better than their batting. Veteran spinners Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir have been exceptionally good for CSK. What CSK lack though is the pace. Chahar and Bravo will be looking to be at their best against a deathly bowling unit of MI.

MS Dhoni and Faf du Plessis will be key players in the batting. Harbhajan and Tahir will be key players in the bowling.

Predicted XI

Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR have to win this one at all costs. Kolkata started off well but have been unable to carry on the momentum in the last few matches. Now SRH are out, KKR will qualify with a win as they are on 12 points. The over dependence on Russell in the first few matches have cost KKR dearly. With any other batsman unable to find the mark, KKR are in a tight spot now. Bumping up Shubman Gill has been of help. Lynn and Nitish Rana also have struggled with the bat this season. Captain Dinesh Karthik has improved his form in the recent matches and will hope to continue on his form today. Russell is the main person KKR will look to win the match.

It’s not just the batting which has been poor for KKR. A constant leakage of runs has cost them badly. The absence of a specialist death over bowler has also been hurtful to the team. Despite that, Piyush Chawla remains KKR’s most influential bowler. Narine and young Prasidh Krishna will look to utilize the slow pitch to their advantage.

Karthik is the hope of a poor batting form. Russell is dangerous as always if he gets going. Chawla and Narine hopefully can get things done on a slow track.

Predicted XI

Chris Lynn, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Robin Uthappa, Rinku Singh, Piyush Chawla, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna.

We are almost at an end of the VIVO IPL 2019 season. With just 9 more matches to go and two spots still up for grab, the 2019 edition promises to be a thriller. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai are sitting third with 14 points. With Delhi and Chennai already qualified, MI look to join them with a win today. Rohit Sharma is back in the squad and will partner Quintin de Kock to open the innings. Mumbai will need to take advantage of a weakened batting unit of SRH. The likes of Sharma, Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav will be pivotal in today’s match. The opening pair and middle order failed to accumulate runs in the last match against KKR, while chasing a big total. It was Hardik Pandya’s heroic effort of 91 off just a paltry 34 balls that gave them a shimmer of hope. At the end it was in vain though, as MI ended up losing the match. Mumbai will again look to Pandya to play an explosive innings towards the end.

The Mumbai bowling which has been so crucial in the past few matches fell apart badly in the last one. They have the best pace duo of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah, who will be key to this match. Barinder Sran and Hardik Pandya, hold vital roles for today’ match.

Now it’s up to Kane Williamson and the replacement Martin Guptill to finish the job. The likes of Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar and Wridhhiman Saha will need to be at their best to secure a win today for the Orange army.

SRH possesses one of the best bowling units of IPL 2019. An ideal combination of the pace of Bhuvi and Khaleel combined with the trickery of spinner Rashid Khan give them an edge over MI. The Afghan spinner has been a nightmare for the opposition batsmen. SRH will bank on him and Khaleel Ahmed to deliver the goods in today’s match.
