India Vs South Africa 2nd ODI: Match Analysis And Prediction

The South Africa India series is producing few unprecedented results, and much like the high and low bounce of the Wanderers wicket, the Durban ODI was nothing short of excitement and surprising result. India muscled past South Africa’s 269, and with Kohli’s heroics and Rahane’s sublime knock, India never looked in trouble of achieving it. Much like the Australia England series where the home team dominated the test matches, but the visitors bounced back in the shorter format of the game.

India will be brimming with confidence as there were ample positives to take from the first ODI. On the other hand, South Africa will be disappointed with their bowling department. However, there are 5 more matches to go, and the South Africa India action moves to SuperSport Park, Centurion.

Team News: India Vs SA

India

The Indians should pat themselves on the back as the Durban wicket wasn’t a cakewalk, and the pacers especially Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took quite a few blows, but the newly found spin twin of Chahal and Kuldeep made life easier for Kohli and Co. Hardik Pandya will still be under the spotlight after another poor showing with the ball and should have done better on an unpredictable wicket. Bumrah bowled with guile and pace, and there was an instance when he cut Du Plessis in halves on 91. Chahal showed why he is ranked above Ashwin in the ODI arena, and took two crucial wickets and bowled economically. Kuldeep was the other star who gave the ball air and his deliveries gripped and turned. Duminy was foxed by Kuldeep’s googly as he completely misread his hand.

Batting

The batting was another bright spot that clicked, and despite the openers scoring 20 and 35 respectively, they were undone by insane shot selection and a woeful runout. Dhawan was creaming the ball with ease, and with the feet moving closer to the ball. Rohit looked in a hurry and after smashing a six and couple of boundaries he went for a home run over the bowler. Kohli should blame himself as the single was not on, and Dhawan had to be sacrificed for it.

However, it was another Kohli masterclass; the 33rd century in ODIs and his umpteenth one while chasing. Kohli never looked in trouble and stayed unfazed against Rabada’s menacing pace. The question for the number 4 spot may have been answered. Period. Rahane played the perfect foil to Kohli’s heroics by chipping in with singles and excellent running and paired with two gigantic sixes and few boundaries. There is no reason why Kohli should tinker with the starting XI. The inclusion of Kedar Jadhav balances the team as his low angle off-spinners are an additive to his finishing abilities with the bat.

South Africa

South Africa could have done better on a wicket that was slow, but they lost wickets at crucial junctures and Du Plessis was all alone in another epic hundred. De Kock looked in trouble against Bumrah but played well for his 34 before he was wrongly adjudged LBW. Amla was undone with an excellent Bumrah incoming delivery, and Markram never looked pretty in his number 4 spot. Duminy and Miller will look to make the most of their opportunities in the second ODI, and with Morris hitting good form the batting department cannot be put under the scanner.

Du Plessis will need to reshuffle his bowling options as the Indians played with ease throughout the game and the de facto Imran Tahir was rendered insignificant as well. Rabada has been hitting his strides but needs to bowl accurately and the inclusion of Phelukwayo is baffling. On a slow wicket, the option of a chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi is an obvious choice, but the Proteas skipper missed a trick in Durban. The SuperSport Park wicket will be interesting to watch as the option of going with 4 specialist seamers may not be the way this time around. Behardien has been added to the South African squad as AB De Villiers replacement, but there looks no vacancy for him in the starting XI.

Playing XI India

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni(wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah

Playing XI South Africa

Quinton De Kock(Wk), Hashim Amla, Faf Du Plessis(c), Aiden Markram, JP Duminy, David Miller, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel, Tabraiz Shamsi, Imran Tahir

Match Predictions: Who Will Win Today?

The South Africa India series has produced few astonishing results, and India’s dream of winning a bilateral series in 25 years may come true, as the Proteas are under the pump. The absence of AB De Villiers is clearly felt, and that may be a crucial point again at SuperSport Park. The odds are in favor of India, and it looks like Centurion will hold an epic South Africa India battle.

India Vs South Africa 1st ODI 2018 Match Analysis, Playing XI and Prediction

India Vs South Africa 1st ODI 2018 Match Analysis, Playing XI and Prediction

The 1st ODI (One Day International) of 6 matches between South Africa and India will be played on 1 Feb 2018 at Kingsmead Cricket Ground – Durban, South Africa. Let’s check the playing XI, match analysis, betting odds, betting tips and match prediction for SA vs Ind 1st ODI.

The third test didn’t guarantee any entertainment as many thought it to be a dead rubber but what unfolded at the Wanderers was nothing short of sheer excitement. The pitch was the focal point of discussion, but it was the home side that remained irked as India registered a power-packed consolation win. The format will change, and India will take on the host in a 6-match ODI series with the first one starting from 1st February. India will be hoping to avenge their home series loss when the Proteas visited and will take lots of positives from the last test. India has a formidable ODI side, and with players like Dhoni coming in it will be a big boost for Kohli and Co. South Africa will look to brush away the 3rd test memories and ready to assert their dominance, and they have also called back JP Duminy and David Miller. Lungi Ngidi may get a chance to prove his mettle in the 50-over format while Imran Tahir huffing and puffing to dazzle Indians with his leg-spin.

India

MS Dhoni, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur, and Shreyas Iyer will don the colorful jerseys, and Virat will be elated to have the services of Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav as well. India has a wealth of batting and bowling option to cherry pick from, but notable exclusions of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin has created a mixed buzz. Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been exceptional in the home series, and Axar as a backup choice shows India’s bowling strength, but the two veterans have been a mainstay for a long time now.

Kingsmead, Durban has induced mixed results for India, and the pitch isn’t going to help the bowlers much as the length of the boundaries doesn’t do them any favor. India will look to field a strong and potent batting line-up, but the opening choice may still be up for grabs. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit would be the go-to pair, but with no KL Rahul in the team Rahane may fill in as and when necessary. India is spoilt for choices in the middle order, and with Virat and MSD being the first two name in the team sheet, there stays little place for Iyer, Rahane, and Dinesh Karthik to make inroads. The bowling department has been the best feature of this series and the additional spinners along with Shardul Thakur will make India’s stake for a series win stronger.

South Africa

South Africa may have had a bad 3rd test, but their side showed the vigor needed to beat a team like India be it on their home soil. The discovery of Lungi Ngidi is the biggest positive with AB De Villiers back to his best, Faf will be relieved to see JP Duminy, Miller, and Imran Tahir added to his ranks. However, AB De Villiers has been ruled out of the first three ODIs due to a finger injury, but his replacement is yet to be named. It would be interesting to see who fills up the void, as South Africa has little to choose from in the batting department. The inclusion of Khayelihle Zondo will be an interesting watch and Markram will be ready to cement his place in the ODI side.

Lungi-Ngidi-ind-vs-sa
Lungi Ngidi

The bowling department looks compact as veteran Morne Morkel and Imran Tahir will be guiding a fiery South African bowling unit consisting of Rabada, Morris, and Shamsi. Morris will be the counterpart to Hardik Pandya, but his form remains in question after an injury absence, and then Ngidi getting the nod ahead of him in the test series. Ngidi may have to wait for his first ODI Cap, but given the pitches, in the ongoing tour, SA may prefer to field in 4 specialist pacers and a spinner.

Match Prediction: Which Team has more Chance of Winning Ist ODI?

It will be hard to rule out India and given its current ODI form it will be a battle for the ages, but South Africa has a slight edge over their counterpart, but it will be interesting to see how they fare without AB De Villiers, but a 650+ game can be ensured given Kingsmead’s history.

South Africa Vs India: 3rd Test Match Prediction. Who Will Win?

The South Africa India Test series has been nothing short of high-quality cricket, nail-biting finishes, tactical prowess, and raised the most debated question in Cricket right now; The home advantage. The South Africa India test series has a historical aspect added to it, and the question of how Virat Kohli’s overseas captaincy prowess was to be answered here. Unfortunately, unfathomable batting display led Kohli down and India lost yet another series to South Africa in their homeland. The wait for 25 years will now be stretched further. However, the third test may be a dead rubber, but the quality on display shouldn’t be questioned. India will be playing to salvage a consolation victory before the start of the shorter formats, and South Africa will be looking for a clean sweep to assert their dominance. The third test starts on 24th January and will be played at the historic Wanderers Stadium.

Batting Side Last Match Analysis

It has been a poor batting display by India and there is no doubt that the team management would like to reshuffle a few things. Firstly, the Centurion pitch wasn’t as wicked as everyone expected it to be. The pitch was dry and the occasional deliveries were shooting up at the batsman or rolling under knee height. However, the Indian batting never looked at ease except for Virat Kohli who fought fire with fire and scored a tremendous 153 in the first innings. Murali Vijay looked like getting into his element but fell prey to a nothing delivery from Maharaj. KL Rahul looked out of sorts much like the man he replaced, Shikhar Dhawan. Pujara has himself to blame for becoming the first batsman to be dismissed run out twice in the same match. Kohli’s decision to keep Rohit in the starting XI baffled experts, and the latter couldn’t make it count. Rohit did score 47 in the second innings, but his decision to hook Ngidi raised a question about his temperament, and Kohli had to face the wrath of the media. Parthiv Patel played a few expansive shots but as his career has panned out till date, he failed prey to poor shot selection.

Bowling Side Match Analysis

india-vs-south-africa-2018-test

India as a bowling unit has been solid and there should be no doubt about that. On a docile pitch, the Indian seamers troubled the Proteas and Ashwin got through the top order in the first innings with ease. Had AB De Villiers not played such a vital and swashbuckling innings of 81, India may have had a chance of restricting the target to 150. Kohli was put under the scanner for dropping Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in place of Ishant Sharma, but the lanky pacer justified his place with tight bowling. Shami looked a little leggy in the first innings, but he ripped through the defenses of AB De Villiers and others in the second. Bumrah had a good game and bowled well in tandem with the other seamers. The bowling unit has been firing and the ability to pick up 20 wickets should be lauded.

South Africa In the Last Test Match

SA Bowling Analysis 3rd Match

It is tough on the opposition when a newcomer who didn’t even think of playing in the series, plays and rips through their batting line-up. The story of Lungisani True-Man Ngidi is nothing short of a miracle as the 22-year old was not in the picture when the team was announced, but somehow 20 days in 2018 and the whole World is in awe of this lad. Asked to deputize for Dale Steyn and selected above Morris, Ngidi was under the pump from day 1. Bowled decently in the first innings and took his debut wicket by getting Parthiv Patel to edge one. However, it was the second innings that saw him scalp his maiden 5-wicket haul as he bagged 6 for 39 in a spell filled with quality pace bowling and determination. Rabada had a good game as well and was handed new ball duties which he performed to perfection. Philander, Morkel, and Maharaj played their part with the ball as well as with the bat.

SA Batting Analysis of 2nd Match

AB De Villiers led the South African batting line-up and showed why he is such a master act even after taking a sabbatical. Aiden Markram played well for his 94 and Elgar got back into his groove with a well notched 61. Amla got among runs, and Du Plessis played the anchor role with ease. De Kock had a quiet game with the bat, but his keeping was on another level. It would be hard to imagine South Africa tinkering with their starting XI. Morkel shall be rested and Morris could make his way in.

Starting XI INDIA

India: Finally, we might see Rahane making his way in in place of Rohit Sharma and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar grab his spot with Bumrah making his way out. Parthiv Patel had a dismal match both with the bat and gloves and Dinesh Karthik may take his place. Other than that it depends on how India’s batting line-up stands up for the last test. Pandya had an indifferent game, but his fielding abilities will be a big boost.

Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(C), Ajinkya Rahane, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma

Playing XI South Africa

We don’t see South Africa making any change, and Du Plessis’ determination for a clean sweep means he will field his best eleven for the third test at the Wanderers.

Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, Hashim Amla, AB De Villiers, Faf Du Plessis (C), Quinton De Kock, Vernon Philander, Morne Morkel, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi.

Match Predictions

Even the inclusion of Rahane doesn’t guarantee India a consolation win and the Proteas would be pumped up to make it 3-0 at the Wanderers that has seen few of the best matches between these two nations. South Africa should walk away with the bragging rights. However, it would be a tough battle. Let’s wait and watch.

Ind Vs SA: 2nd Test Match Prediction and Analysis: Who Will Win?

Catch all the live action of the second test between India South Africa with match predictions, predicted XI and lots of intriguing facts and stats. After a dismal batting performance by Virat Kohli led team India, the second test at SuperSport Park, Centurion will be an uphill task for the Indian batters as there form overseas haven’t quite matched that of their home season performances. Check Our Prediction for the Ind Vs SA first test match here. We’ve predicted correctly South Africa are favorites to win with our analysis and experts views. Let’s check out who will win the second test match between India and South Africa on 11th January 2018.

On the other hand, South Africa will be elated after a stunning victory, and Faf Du Plessis showed his leadership abilities after Dale Steyn was forced out of the remainder of the series, but Vernon Philander showed why his inclusion in the team should never be questioned. India will have many familiar demons to answer while South Africa will look to strengthen their bowling line-up after Steyn’s injury.

Team News: India

India will not be making any changes to the bowling department as the Bhuvaneshwar Kumar spearheaded attacked looked ominous throughout the test. Debutant Bumrah and inexperienced Hardik Pandya played match-defining roles and the latter’s valiant 93 helped India secure 200+ first innings score. Ashwin bowled with guile in the second innings and one can expect India’s 4 seamers and 1 spinner policy for the next match as well. The batting department will look to consolidate after such an abysmal performance where none of the top 5 batsmen were able to get past 30. Vijay looked out of sorts against Steyn and Rabada in the first innings and was undone by Philander in the second. Dhawan’s technique came under the scanner after he was bounced out by an innocuous Morkel bouncer. Virat Kohli let his fans experience a bitter throwback when he nicked a ball outside off-stump in the first innings. Rohit Sharma looked good in both the innings, but his shot selection had let him down. Cheteshwar Pujara remains to be the big talking point. One of the stonewalls of modern Indian batting order, Pujara’s overseas record does not tally with his home record by any means. He was bamboozled by a Morkel beauty in the second innings, but he never looked at ease throughout his stay. Saha and Ashwin will be looking to back their batting abilities where the former would love to get some run in his kitty with Parthiv Patel waiting in the reserves. Much was expected from Pandya and he delivered. A blitzkrieg 93 in the first innings set up the India South Africa series and showed his ability to dominate and counter-attack when needed. As Sachin Tendulkar said a couple of days ago that Pandya will add another dimension that Indian cricket lacked since the retirement of Kapil Dev.

South Africa has called up Duanne Olivier and Lungi Ngidi to cover for Dale Steyn, but there is a chance that Morris may get a nod ahead of them.

Key Players: Ind Vs SA 2nd Test

India

Much will depend on Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami to get the South African top order out quickly. Bumrah and Pandya will be keen to assert their authority. Unlike the Cape Town wicket, Ashwin may play a more significant role at SuperSport Park. Kohli will be raring to go and silence his critics and remove all sorts of technical glitches. Vijay will be a player to look out for as the longer he stays on the crease, the worse it could get for the fiery African pacers.

South Africa

AB De Villiers showed why he is a master act even after such a prolonged break. With the SuperSport Park known to make balanced wickets, he will be looking to reach a triple figure mark sooner than later. Dean Elgar will be another man to look out for as he missed out on the first innings, but played well for his 25 in the second. Amla may not have the best of starts but counting him out could be dangerous. Quinton De Kock will be tasked with a similar Hardik Pandya approach, and the former is blessed with excellent techniques helping him to survive the bloodthirsty Indian attack and showcase his talent while lighting up the India South Africa contest. Philander may be one of the most underrated bowlers of recent times and his ability to spearhead the attack under pressure situations shows his class as a bowler. He was well supported by Rabada and Morkel and his probing length could lead to India South Africa series decider at SuperSport Park.

Catch all the live action along with match predictions, the probable starting XI for both sides and the key factor ahead of the Cape Town clash. South Africa have not had the best of times, but their record in bilateral series has never been in doubt.

india vs south africa ind vs sa match prediction

India Bowling & Players Predictions

India will back themselves after a ruthless home season and will be looking to keep the purple patch going. India’s bowling department will be spearheaded by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and the 27-year old pacer from Meerut can now be trusted with such duties. He will be deputized by the likes of Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma while Hardik Pandya would Kohli’s go-to option whenever in a quest for a wicket or two. Spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would line up inadvertently, but depending on the pitch report India can opt for 4 pacers 1 spinner strategy. KL Rahul and Murali Vijay would be blessed with opening duties while Pujara and skipper Kohli would continue their run feast.

South Africa Bowling & Players Predictions

South Africa had a reasonable time of their own and with Dean Elgar in his prime and AB De Villiers set to stage his return in the Test Arena it would be a typical South African response. South Africa India series will raise the rhetoric of Indian batsmen’s inability to play bouncers. This will be a huge test for De Villiers and Dale Steyn as the two pillars of modern South African Cricket had their career blighted by injuries and dip in form. Steyn can be a difference on a fast Cape Town pitch while Philander and Rabada providing the ammunition from the other end. Apart from Elgar, Faf Du Plessis had a moderate home season, but his knocks against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe cannot be deemed as a telling statistic. Quinton De Kock would look to reassert himself in the middle order and Bavuma would provide the much-needed compactness. Hashim Amla would be SA’s most reliable source while Chris Morris would be deputized with chipping in with few wickets and valuable contributions lower down the order.

India Vs South Africa Match Prediction: Who Will Win?

The South Africa India series prediction can be made with certain factors in minds such as South Africa’s recent dip in form against the Big Three of test cricket, and India’s dependable and dynamic bowling unit. South Africa had a torrid time against England as the latter remains unbeaten since 2004. South Africa’s record against Australia isn’t great either, so a psychological factor can undo the Proteas on their home turf.

Key Players to Watch Out For the 1st test Match

India will be looking to score freely provided they bat first; Vijay would play the anchor’s role and with Pujara at 3, the dressing room would love to see the duo batting together. Virat Kohli can be the deciding factor of the series as a whole and his recent form has only been eclipsed by Steven Smith. In the bowling department, all eyes will be of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar while Shami’s ability to seam can also be a factor.

South Africa would heavily rely on Hashim Amla for the runs and will be hoping for Dean Elgar to continue his form. AB De Villiers on his day can take the match away in a session and with players like De Kock and Du Plessis in the rank he can stamp his greatness as well. Steyn will be the face of the Proteas pace unit, but Rabada will play a key role in getting past the Indian top-order.

Playing XI India: India: KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravindra Jadeja/Ishant Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar

Playing XI South Africa: Faf du Plessis (C), Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock (W), Theunis de Bruyn, AB de Villiers, Dean Elgar, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Morne Morkel, Chris Morris, Andile Phehlukwayo, Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn.

It would be foolish to write off the Proteas, but India’s recent form and their application have been top-notch. Shikhar Dhawan may sit out for this test while Rahane might be on the bench. Morne Morkel for the Proteas would be restricted to the subs bench as well. The South Africa India series will be packed with relentless action and poised drama is set to unveil in Cape Town. South Africa are favorites to win the first test match of this series.
