RCB Vs MI Prediction 17th April: Who Will Win today’s Match Between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians?

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to meet each other in an important match at The Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday. Both high-profile teams haven’t had the best of starts this season and would be looking to inspire a change in fortune and gather some much-needed momentum, which we know is a must to go the way in IPL from past experiences. Let’s take a look at both teams with a coverage of what we can expect from the two struggling giants.

Mumbai Indians

RCB Vs MI Prediction 2018

It is no secret that the defending champions of IPL are struggling. They’ve had the worst possible start to the season losing all three of their opening matches of IPL 2018, finding themselves on the bottom of the table. The big stars of the team from Mumbai haven’t fired yet and The Rohit Sharma-led team would be looking for some inspiration from one of their mighty names. They’ve played two games at home so far, both have gone down to the wire and both have culminated in heartbreak for the Mumbai faithful. The sparkling form of new boy Suryakumar Yadav has been the only silver lining thus far. Mayank Markande has impressed in his debut season but was taken to the cleaners in MI’s last game against the Daredevils. The most disappointing part of MI’s season yet has been the poor form of biggies like Kieron Pollard, The Pandya Brothers and their skipper Rohit Sharma.

Mustafizur Rahman has settled in nicely with his new team and a lot depends on their bowling on Tuesday as they will be up against some of the most destructive batters in the world. Evin Lewis has shown signs of his might with the bat and the Indians seem to have struck the right balance on the top with Suryakumar Yadav and Evan Lewis. The pair registered a quick 100-run partnership against Delhi In the weekend before Tewatia struck twice in quick succession. Their middle-order looks out of sorts as they fail to score quickly in the middle overs, leaving the finishers with too mammoth a task in the death overs. The death bowling of the Indians has looked encouraging and Mustafizur Rahman, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah would like to continue their good work. It is too soon to say that this is a must-win game for Mumbai but the straits are getting direr with every passing game. Mumbai is known to be slow starters in IPL but they would need to pick up their form sooner rather than later if they want to have any hope of clinching the grand trophy for a record 4th time. Our prediction says that Mumbai wouldn’t want to make drastic changes to the starting XI and would want to back their biggies to express themselves. Evan Lewis could take the game away from the Royal Challengers in the span of a few overs whereas Mustafizur’s 4 over would be key to their chances.

Mumbai Indians Playing XI

SuryaKumar Yadav, Evan Lewis, Ishan Kishan ( WK ), Rohit Sharma( C ), Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Akila Dananjaya, Mayank Markhande, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore might have thought 2018 would finally be their year. It still can be, of course, but the Royal Challengers haven’t had the best of starts to IPL 2018. After losing away to KKR in their opening game, they lost at home to the Royals courtesy of a match-winning knock by Sanju Samson. Sandwiched between them, stands their solitary win against KXIP at home. The all-star top 4 of RCB has been impressive in bits and parts but it is their bowling again that has been letting them down. Umesh Yadav started strongly with an impressive bowling display. However, his confidence must be low after a poor display in the last match with horrid figures of 4-0-59-0. Young lad Khejroliya too has been poor and it would be surprising to see him get another game. Woakes has also been expensive though he has been picking up wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar form a formidable spin duo and have picked up a few wickets. RCB need to do something about their bowling department, especially their death bowling. They are leaking too many runs, making it difficult for the batsman to complement them.

RCB would be really encouraged with the return to form of their talisman, Virat Kohli after he looked magnificent in his half-century last night. Brendon McCullum hasn’t been at his best and he could make for Corey Anderson or Colin De Grandhomme, either of whom would largely improve the balance of the side. Proteas Quinton De Kock and AB de Villiers have been decent but would like to get a big score under their belt. RCB are heavily dependant on the trio of Kohli, de Villiers and de Kock and would be hoping all three of them start firing. Their middle order, as always is a major concern and players like Mandeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and Pawan Negi need to take responsibility. The addition of Anderson would add some firepower down their batting order along with Chris Woakes who has not performed with his bat yet. RCB need a win to gain some momentum. The skipper Kohli, arguably the best batsman in the world right now is key and could open the innings on Tuesday given McCullum does sit out along with Chahal, who needs to be instrumental against the big-hitters of Mumbai.

RCB Playing XI

Virat Kohli ( C ), Quinton de Kock ( WK ), Mandeep Singh, AB de Villiers, Corey Anderson, Pawan Negi, Chris Woakes, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav
