MI Vs DD Match Prediction 14th April: Who Will Win Today?

Mumbai Indians Vs. Delhi Daredevils to be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Turn to our page and check the weekend mania starting from tomorrow. Match prediction alongside the playing XI of both sides and a gist of what we can expect.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians haven’t had the best of starts, but we know from our past experiences that it would be foolish to write them off so easily especially with the tournament still kicking up a notch or two. Their batting has been an area of problem, and if your star man and skipper still missing a cylinder or two it is never easy to post a big score. Against SRH, Mumbai Indians were second best all night except the 3 over heroics from Mustafizur and Bumrah that almost sealed an improbable win. Evin Lewis has looked good, but like most of his compatriots, he tends to lose his concentration at key moments. Suryakumar Yadav steadied the ship after the fall of Kishan but was too cautious and Pollard who looked to be on song fell away cheaply. After that, it was an uphill battle and MI folded for 147.

The bowling looks excellent again this season and the addition of Mustafizur is enough to ensure that Bumrah can relax a little. However, the biggest bonus is Mayank Markande. The 20-year old leggie was excellent again and scalped 4 crucial wickets. It is the role of Ben Cutting that needs some supervision. Hardik Pandya’s injury has been a huge blow, and this is where the experience of JP Duminy will play a huge role. Akila Dananjaya can be of use at the Wankhede wicket, but MI will not like to alter so much in the opening phases.

The key players would be Rohit and Lewis with the bat. The mighty Windian can smash the bejesus out of the cricket ball, and Rohit would just need a knock of 30-40 to settle his nerve. Pollard looked good the other night and has proved his mettle innumerable times. Bumrah and Mustafizur remain the backbone of a strong bowling line up, but it will be the youngster Markande spinning a web around the batsmen.

Predicted XI

Rohit Sharma, Evin Lewis, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Ben Cutting/JP Duminy, Pradeep Sangwan, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rehman.

Delhi Daredevils

The story of blowing hot and cold may soon get synonymous with Delhi Daredevils. Even with their local lad back and captaining the side, Delhi still looks like a team short on confidence. The match against Rajasthan Royals may have been dampened by the rain Gods, but that didn’t do them any favor as they lost by 10 runs. Delhi has an enviable batting line-up and could be rated as one of the best considering domestic talents, experience, and absolute smackers of the cricket ball. However, they are failing to live up to the expectations and would be looking up to their skipper. Gautam has been in good form, but he will need to channel Munro’s strengths while the addition of Maxwell doesn’t need any introduction.

Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer will need to step it up a notch as the two are expected to lead the Indian batting someday. It is the role of Morris that becomes extremely crucial for DD. He has been handy with the ball and he boasts of excellent IPL statistics with the bat. However, the role of Vijay Shankar is not defined, although he can be seen as the next fast bowling all-rounder, his batting lacks the firepower that DD needs at the end.

Shami has found his touch after a horrid time off the field, and Boult has been amazing even after playing a truckload of matches. Shahbaz Nadeem is a proven weapon, but his flatter trajectory at the Wankhede can see him belted out of the park. Tewatia is another player of the season contender and has been a vital cog in the middle overs.

Gautam Gambhir, Munro, and Maxwell will be the key players to look out for without a shadow of a doubt while everybody will bet their money on Boult’s heroics.

Predicted XI

Gautam Gambhir, Colin Munro, Glenn Maxwell, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar, Chris Morris, Mohammed Shami, Rahul Tewatia, Shahbaz Nadeem, Trent Boult
