Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Mumbai Indians Match Prediction, Preview, Betting Tips and Playing 11: Who’ll Win?

The 41st match of Vivo IPL 2018 is set to take place between Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 9th May. MI is getting into the grove right at the business end, and a win here would mean they would need 2 more wins out of 3 possible to qualify. KKR, on the other hand, could well see their chances slip out of the hands. Let’s find out today’s match preview, playing 11, team news, betting tips and match prediction. Who will win today’s IPL match?

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR’s form in this Vivo IPL 2018 has been unpredictable to sum it up in a word. They have won 5 and lost 5, and aren’t looking too confident as the 13 runs loss to MI will be on their head, and MI is in the ascendancy. Despite playing at Eden Gardens and the pitch slowly turning into a dust bowl, Kolkata Knight Riders will need to fix their batting woes, and their gamble to play Gill as an opener instead of Narine isn’t going to work if they wish to post a big score. I am still not convinced with Chris Lynn as he does not look like a batsman in form, and KKR needs to take a gamble with Cameron Delport. Russell looks like a shadow of himself and is fading away after an excellent start to IPL 11. The biggest problem is Dinesh Karthik. He is good form, but where will he bat to be the most effective. I feel he is batting a little too low in the order, and with Rana finding it difficult on slow pitches DK needs to step up.

Bowling line-up

The bowlers aren’t a problem, and Prasidh Krishna who replaced Nagarkoti can get a match or two as he looks like a bowler for the ages. KKR spinners are still effective, and no changes will be needed there.

Key Players to watch

The key players for KKR would be Narine both with the bat and ball, but he needs to bat as an opener. Dre Russ and Dinesh Karthik will be their main man if they have any chance of defeating this balanced MI’s side.

Playing XI

Shubhman Gill, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Cameron Delport/Chris Lynn, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Tom Curran/Mitch Johnson

Mumbai Indians

Buoyant after an emphatic win over KKR, the reverse fixture will need them to be at their best as 3 wins out of 4 matches will see them go through. Hardik Pandya is slowly developing into the role that the whole India wants him to be. He has been excellent with the bat and ball while his death over bowling is getting better. However, Mumbai Indians might look into their problem with Ishan Kishan as he does not look like a player able to play down the order. They do have Aditya Tare sitting on the bench, and he can deputize as an able keeper. Duminy and Cutting provide balance and will like to see the Aussie all-rounder get some time with the bat. Suryakumar Yadav has been a revelation in Vivo IPL 2018 while Lewis is looking good as well. The form of skipper Rohit Sharma has gone under the radar due to his excellent captaincy.

Bowling line-up

Bumrah is one of the finest death bowlers ever to be produced in India, and he looks to grow in confidence and is already leading the MI bowling lineup. Mitch McClenaghan has been decent, and Krunal and Mayank will be licking their fingers to bowl on a slow Eden Gardens pitch.

Key Players

Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are the main guns for MI, while Bumrah will be their best bet with the ball.

Playing XI

Suryakumar Yadav, Evin Lewis, Rohit Sharma, Aditya Tara/Ishan Kishan, JP Duminy, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan

KKR Vs MI Match Prediction: Who Will Win today’s IPL match?

Based on current form it has to be MI, but home ground advantage and KKR’s spinners are more than capable to flatten the MI batting in 12 overs. However, it will be a tight affair as the small ground will see balls fly off the bat.
