Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Prediction, Preview and Pre-Match Analysis. Who Will Win today’s match?

The 35th match of the blockbuster edition of IPL 2018 will behold a match between two heavy weights. CSK will host the Royal Challengers Bangalore at their adopted home stadium of Maharashtra Cricket Association, in Pune. Well, it’s finally happened and in what a fashion! Chennai Super Kings lost their previous match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, despite being a favorite. RCB also come here with a win against MI but it’s been a turbulent season for the Kohli side. Sitting in the fifth position with just six points from eight matches, RCB has to win the next few matches to keep their playoffs hope alive. Let’s today’s match preview, prediction, playing 11 and pre-match analysis.

Chennai Super Kings

Eden Gardens witnessed a fabulous Thursday evening when the young Shubman Gill almost single-handedly quashed Chennai’s hopes. This was CSK’s second loss in three games and it exposed their single biggest weakness; their bowling. Although CSK has one leg in the playoffs of IPL 2018, they would not like to lose out the top of the points table, now that SRH has overtaken them. Almost every batsman chipped in with the bat against KKR. Of course, Dhoni was on a completely different level from others with a blistering 43 off 25 balls. Batting is not a worry for CSK as they have shown the ability to score and chase 200+ runs.

The Achilles heel for the Dhoni led men in yellow is their woeful bowling performance in IPL 2018. The inclusion of young talents like Lungi Ngidi and KM Asif gave a slight breathing chance. The duo was also hammered by KKR despite opening brilliantly. Experienced players like Shane Watson and Dwayne Bravo need to step in to help the younger pacers. Watson has been astonishing with the bat so far but has to step up to help the bowling. Dhoni has time and again entrusted Jadeja with the ball and the bat. But the all-rounder has failed to perform. The last match was especially bad for Jadeja, as he leaked runs and even dropped two crucial catches. It was an extreme surprise to see him in the live match, knowing his excellent fielding skills. Even the experienced Harbhajan Singh is having a tough time with the ball. A surprising fact remains the underutilization of Karn Sharma. The leggie who was bought in for Imran Tahir has not faced much time with the ball.

Unless CSK can come up with a plan to ease their bowling worries, scoring big is the only option left for them. Expect Dhoni, Watson, and Rayudu to score on a batting Pune surface.

Predicted Playing XI

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Harbhajan Singh, KM Asif, Lungi Ngidi, Karn Sharma.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Perhaps one of the best teams to have not won the trophy yet, Royal Challengers Bangalore has a task ahead in IPL 11 also. The men in red have reached the finals thrice only having to leave empty handed. A balanced team with plenty of star power in batting, RCB also have had their share of bowling problems. Coming off with a much-needed win against Mumbai Indians, RCB has to win this match. The batting led by the charismatic Virat Kohli is backed by Manan Vohra, Brendon McCullum, Mandeep Singh and Colin de Grandhomme. Royal Challengers Bangalore have received a huge boost in the form of a returning AB de Villers. We all know the impact de Villers can have on a match. The scoreboard will be up and running in the live match once he gets going.

Batting Line-up & Key Players

On the bowling front, we see Tim Southee and Umesh Yadav with Mohammed Siraj and Y. Chahal rounding off the lineup. This looks a good lineup on paper. The young Siraj has impressed on occasions but he still lacks that experience. The death overs have been bad for RCB as they have lost on those overs. The bowlers need to take wickets early on to ease pressure in the penultimate over.

With Quinton de Kock opting out for a wedding, AB de Villiers will be taking his spot in the lineup. Batting again will play a huge role for RCB as they iron out their bowling.

Predicted Playing XI

Manan Vohra, Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, Mandeep Singh, AB de Villiers, Washington Sundar, Tim Southee, Colin de Grandhomme, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.
