Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals will be pumped up after a 19 runs victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore and will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders. RR will be grateful to Sanju Samson, who was phenomenal with a sublime knock of 92 and will be looking forward to their captain who chipped in with a 20 ball 36. Buttler needs to see more of the ball and has looked good, but loses his wicket just when he needs to accelerate. The form of Ben Stokes may be a worry, but he has been decent with the ball so far. D Arcy Short wasn’t run out this time, but never got going. Rajasthan may look for other options, while Rahul Tripathi is turning out to play effective cameos at the end, and the role of Gowtham was clearly defined when he priced for Kohli and De Villiers.

Despite not having the best of bowlers in terms of T20, RR is doing well in IPL 10 with Kulkarni and Unadkat leading the line and Ben Laughlin chipping in with his experience. However, the lack of a quality spinner may haunt them as KKR have been toying around with spinners lately. The track of Jaipur hasn’t yielded well for the spinners, so RR will be looking to take that into the equation and play out Narine who has been KKR’s best bowler again. RR should be looking to make the most out of the batting conditions.

They will be banking on Rahane and Samson to come up with the fireworks while Buttler will be raring to go. Unadkat will be handed with the bowling duties, and Laughlin could turn out to be the old horse of IPL 2018.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders will be pumped up after trumping Delhi Daredevils in a convincing manner, but few flaws have been exposed recently to the opening pair and the form of Uthappa and Karthik has been under the scanner. Much of the onus will be on Nitish Rana who has been a revelation in this IPL 10, albeit he was excellent the previous season as well. IPL 2018 has also seen players like Shubhman Gill get a chance. However, it should be very clear by now; if you want to play Gill gets him up the order else drop him for an explosive finisher.

Narine has always been the best spinner for a long time in T20, and there could be little to doubt his abilities. Kuldeep Yadav got two wickets but may consider himself lucky. The policy of playing three spinners will be a tricky one, but KKR will not tamper with their bowling options.

The key remains Russell, Rana, and Narine. Uthappa needs to step up with the goods, but Lynn has been frantic in IPL 2018 and has looked out of sorts against the spinners. However, an injury to Russell may trigger a change.
