2nd Match of IPL 10 Between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune SuperGaints. Let’s see how has more chances of winning today’s match! #PredictX

The Rising Pune Supergiants

This IPL marks the 10th year of the franchise based cricketing tournament in India and while you’d believe that you’ve seen all that it has to offer over the enriching 10 years of its existence, this season marks itself as the first to see MS DHONI – the former Indian captain playing in an IPL edition as a player (batsman + wicket keeper) and not captaining his side.

The Rising Pune Supergiants management made the brave call of stepping aside Dhoni from the captaincy duties and handing it over to Steve Smith, the Australian captain. The team also has the presence of Faf du Plessi (South African captain) and Ajinkya Rahane (who captained India in 4th test vs Australia and former Rajasthan Royals captain).

Will Ashwin’s loss cost RPS?

RPS comes into the tournament with a massive blow of losing Ravichandran Ashwin to an injury and also won’t has the services of Mitchell Marsh (all-rounder from Australia). They’ve however bagged Imran Tahir as a replacement.

A formidable batting unit

The Pune team looks formidable on paper with players like Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, Smith, DuPlessis, Dhoni and of course the biggest buy from the auction – Ben Stokes. Zampa who was the star from Pune’s horrific last season has been retained by the side.

“We have the bowling to do the job” – Steve Smith

Bowling is the concern for RPS

RPS, however, lack a strong bowling unit. With Rajat Bhatia, Unadkat, Ankit Sharma and Ashok Dinda – the bowling unit lacks the experience of an international bowler and this might just hurt Pune in the course of the tournament.

The pressure on their batsmen to deliver will be massive in the opening matchup of the tournament for them. The IPL prediction hat is on and we try to predict the score to which this Pune side can reach should they bat first.

IPL 1st Innings Score Predictor IF Pune Bats First:

IPL 2017 first innings predictor, the Rising Pune Supergiants should reach a total in excess of 170+ with a strong batting unit that comprises of big hitters like Dhoni, Stokes and Smith.

The Mumbai Indians:

Jayawardene takes over Ponting as MI coach – Image: IndiaToday

Mumbai Indians, to begin with, have made changes to their coaching staff. Ricky Ponting has been replaced by Mahela Jayawardene and this is perhaps a strategic ploy to give the team a new mindset to come into the IPL with a more attacking sense of things.

Key Players Return From Injury

Rohit Sharma returns to the side after a long injury break that had kept him out of a very busy season for the Indian cricket. Another return from injury is that of Lasith Malinga (who will miss the first match due to international duties as Sri Lanka is playing Bangladesh).

A Much Balanced Side

Mumbai Indians look as a fairly balanced side on paper. With Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel at the top, Rayudu, Pollard, and Buttler strengthening the middle order – the batting does look quite capable of putting a big total on board. The Pandya brothers are both explosive batsmen and more than handy bowlers – they further add to the balance of the side.

The Bowling Department Has Experience

The bowling unit looks far stronger to that of the RPS. Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell McClenghan, Jasprit Bumran and Tim Southee give weight to Mumbai Indian’s chances of defending even average first innings total and it does seem that Mumbai Indians have got their side balance absolutely spot on.

IPL 1st Innings Score Predictor IF Mumbai Bats First: –

With the average score in Pune being 160+ in the first innings and the explosive talent that Mumbai Indians has in their side i.e. Rohit Sharma, Pollard, Buttler, Rayudu and Pandya brothers – a total in excess of 160+ is on the cards.
